Ladell Betts talks Iowa running back room
The Wednesday coaching interview this week was with Iowa running backs coach Ladell Betts. The former Hawkeye and NFL running back talks about his current group of players, led by Kaleb Johnson. Betts discusses the early success of Johnson this season and what he is doing differently this year.
He also looks back at Johnson and his recruiting process and how he came back to Iowa after committing elsewhere. Then he discusses the other backs in the room, including the health of Jaziun Patterson, the adjustment that Tim Lester has done to the zone scheme, his input on personnel in red zone situations, where Iowa stands in the 2025 running back recruiting class, and how some of the younger backs are doing thus far.
