Iowa offers skilled 2025 wing forward
The Iowa basketball staff continues to hand out offers to prospects in the Class of 2025. There was another one that was shared on Friday and that went to Tayeshaun Smith, a 6-foot-7 forward from Raleigh, North Carolina.
The Hawkeyes extended the offer to the forward after a continued evaluation of the prospect from 1 of 1 Prep Academy.
“What I like about Iowa is they are a great program and they put players to get better every day and not only get to the next level, but make them better men,” he said.
Clearly, Smith has been paying attention to the fact that Iowa has now had first round picks at the forward position in back to back years with Keegan Murray landing at Sacramento last year and Kris Murray heading to Portland this year.

He describes himself as a very versatile forward, much like the Murray’s were at Iowa.
“I feel like I’m a type of player who can do everything that can help my team win ball games. I’m a shot blocker who can shoot off the dribble, get to my spots and score when needed.”
Smith also knows he has to continue to work on his game and improve.
“I need to work on being more aggressive at times and stop being passive.”
In the past few weeks, the talented forward has seen his recruitment really start to take off. He was offered recently by Nebraska and now has landed scholarship opportunities from Iowa, High Point, and Illinois State.
Smith says that Virginia Tech, Clemson, LSU, Penn State, VCU, Florida State, Belmont, UNC-Ashville, IUPUI, Radford, App State, Yale, ODU, UNC Charlotte, and Hampton have been in touch.
At this time, Smith is unsure if he will make a visit to Iowa this fall.
