Hawkeyes on their disappointing exit from Big Ten Tournament
The Iowa basketball team arrived in Minneapolis hoping for an extended stay in the Twin Cities and doing enough to secure a birth in the NCAA Tournament. Instead they fell behind early and made a quick exit from the Big Ten Tournament.
There was obvious disappointment in the Iowa locker room, particularly from Payton Sandfort, who had hoped to lead this team to another NCAA Tournament birth. Sandfort, along with Ben Krikke, Owen Freeman, Patrick McCaffery, and Tony Perkins spoke candidly about what went wrong against the Buckeyes, particularly early in the game, how they couldn’t quite get over the hump, and likely playing in the National Invitational Tournament early next week.
