Luke Lachey announces return for senior season
The Iowa football team is down in Orlando and they have already had two very significant news items for next season drop. The first was the news that All American linebacker Jay Higgins was going to return for his Covid year. Then on Friday, tight end Luke Lachey made it official that he would be coming back for his senior season.
Lachey had been weighing entering the NFL Draft with coming back and ultimately decided that he wanted to be a Hawkeye for one more year. This season, Lachey played in three games before breaking his ankle against Western Michigan. At the time of his injury, Lachey had a team high 10 receptions for 131 yards.

He is currently close to 100% healthy, but being held out of the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl by head coach Kirk Ferentz.
This season he as a preseason second team All Big Ten selection by Phil Steele and third team by Athlon Sports. He was also on the watch list for the John Mackey Award. Lachey will also a team captain coming into the season and was one of three players to represent the Hawkeyes at Big Ten Media Days in Indianapolis in late July.
