As of Monday, it looks like the Hawkeyes have decided on their starting quarterback against Wisconsin. Iowa released their game notes Monday afternoon and it indicates that Iowa will be going with Brendan Sullivan as the starter this weekend.

He is listed as the starter at quarterback and his backup is listed as Marco Lainez. No listed is Cade McNamara, which indicates he is likely in concussion protocol following the Northwestern game.

McNamara has started all eight games for the Hawkeyes this season. He was removed from the game on Saturday against Northwestern in the second quarter following an interception that resulted in a score for the Wildcats. In the second half, he was on the sidelines without his helmet, which usually indicates a player in concussion protocol. McNamara had taken a significant hit late in the first quarter that was flagged for roughing the passer.

This season he has completed 104 of 172 passes (60.5%) for 1072 yards and six touchdowns. He has also thrown five interceptions.

Meanwhile, Sullivan has generally carved out a goal line role until this past weekend. He transferred to Iowa this summer from Northwestern and has completed 11-16 passes (68.8%) for 93 yards and one score. He has also ran the ball 17 times for 77 yards and three scores.

This past weekend, Sullivan stepped in relatively early in the second quarter and after three relatively quick three and outs, he guided the Hawkeyes to a scoring drive just before halftime. In the third quarter, Iowa scored 28 points, including three drives under the direction of Sullivan. He finished the day 9-14 for 79 yards and ran the ball 8 times for 41 yards.

Lainez has not played this season. He did see action in the Citrus Bowl last year and was 2-7 for 4 yards passing the ball against Tennessee and rushed for 51 yards in the game.
