Seven Iowa players invited to NFL Combine

On Thursday the NFL released their list of players who will participate in the annual NFL Combine. There are 329 players invited to the event held each year in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium. This year there were seven now former Iowa players who were invited to the event.
The event begins on February 24th and concludes on March 3rd. Former Iowa players invited include: running back Kaleb Johnson, tight end Luke Lachey, offensive lineman Connor Colby, defensive lineman Yahya Black, linebacker Jay Higgins, defensive back Jermari Harris, and defensive back Sebastian Castro.
On field activities will begin on February 27th with defensive lineman and linebackers participating. On the 28th defensive backs and tight ends take the field. The first day of March begins with quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers. Finally on the second of March we conclude with offensive linemen.

Drills that will take place include the 40 yard dash, bench press, 20 yard shuttle, 3 cone drill, vertical jump, broad jump, and they will also do position specific drills. The players will also have full medical examinations and take the wonderlic test.
The Iowa players are either training in Iowa City or at private training facilities generally in warm weather climates. Many Iowa players will training in Iowa City and elsewhere. Other seniors and most of the players invited to the NFL Combine will participate in Iowa’s Pro Day, which usually takes place right before the start of spring practice in late March.
