Trio of Hawkeyes selected in 7th round of NFL Draft

A trio of Iowa players were selected in the final round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Mason Richman, Connor Colby, and Luke Lachey were picked in the seventh round to bring the grand total of Iowa players drafted this year to five.
Earlier, running back Kaleb Johnson and defensive tackle Yahya Black were picked by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The first of the three offensive players to be drafted in the seventh round was Richman. He was selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the 18th pick in the final round. He was a player who started a grand total of 52 games in his Iowa career. Richman was a steady presence at the left tackle position for Iowa in his career, but will likely move to guard at the professional level.

Next to be picked was Colby, who was the 33rd pick in the seventh round by the San Francisco 49’ers. Colby started all four years at Iowa, seeing time at both guard and tackle. He spent most of his time at the guard position in the final two years of his Hawkeye career and will likely find a home there in the NFL.
Finally the last pick was Luke Lachey, who was the 39th pick in the seventh round by the Houston Texans. By the way there were a total of 41 picks in the final round this year. Lachey would have likely been a higher pick and potentially would have had a decision to make the previous year if he had not broken his ankle in the third game of the season. He returned for his senior year and 28 receptions for 231 yards.
There have now been 94 players selected by NFL teams in the Kirk Ferentz era of Iowa football.
