Support group helped Sandfort out of shooting slump
They say it takes a village to raise a child. In the case of Payton Sandfort, it took a strong support group, led by his parents and grandfather, to get the sophomore guard out of the first shooting slump of his basketball career.
After knocking down 4-5 three pointers against Rutgers, the talented wing seems to shot his way out of his shooting slump. It took a lot of work to get Sandfort out of his slump. It included working with a sports psychologist, going back home to get in the gym with his dad and grandfather to work on his shot, and perhaps most importantly, the support from Head Coach Fran McCaffery, who encouraged him just keep shooting when he had an open look.
