Hawkeyes ready for summer trip
It was the summer of 2019, Kate Martin was heading into her second year with the Hawkeyes and Gabbie Marshall was a young freshman. That summer, the Iowa women’s basketball team made their way across the Atlantic Ocean to play games in Spain in the month of August.
Now four seasons later, the Iowa women are back on the road this summer, traveling to Italy and Croatia to play three games. This year it will be a traveling road show with global interest thanks to the star power of All American Caitlin Clark.
This trip will be the second for Marshall and Martin, who remember what it was like four years ago. Marshall said the competition can sometime vary and it’s hard to prepare for the games. But, the veteran duo is ready to help lead the team overseas. They talk about the trip and what they are seeing from their new potential starters up front and the development of the young guards.
