Iowa Women's Basketball lands four-star guard Aaliyah Guyton
Lisa Bluder and her coaching staff landed a verbal commitment from four-star guard Aaliyah Guyton out of Peoria, IL on Monday night. The 5’6 guard, Guyton, committed to Iowa over Illinois, Nebraska, Michigan State and Pittsburgh. She is rated as the #57 player in the country by ESPN and the #1 player in the state of Illinois by Prep Girls Hoops.
As a sophomore at Peoria in 2021, Guyton averaged 20.2 points, 3.4 assists, 2.7 assists and 2.0 steal per game for a Lions team that went 25-4. She was named Big 12 Conference Player of the Year, while was a unanimous All-Big 12 First Team selection and an IBCA First Team All-State selection.
This past year as a junior in 2022, Aaliyah averaged 21.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists for a Lions team that finished in third-place at the Illinois Class 3A State Tournament. She has been named Peoria State Journal Player of the Year each of the last two seasons.

Guyton also had offers from Ohio State, Wisconsin, Mississippi State, Missouri, DePaul, Vanderbilt, Bradley, UIC, Wichita State, and Oakland. She is the daughter of former NBA player and Indiana standout AJ Guyton. Her mother Adrianna Moises Pinto-Mafra played in the Olympics five times with the Brazilian National Team and also played in the WNBA.
Guyton’s commitment gives the Hawkeyes five commits for the class of 2024. C Ava Heiden (#36 ESPN), G/F Teagan Mallegni (#64), G Taylor Stremlow (#88) and G Callie Levin round out the recruiting class. Four top 100 commits is more than anyone else in the Big Ten according to ESPN.
