Iowa Women's Basketball recruits in the On3HER Top 25
On Thursday afternoon, On3 debuted their first-ever women’s basketball recruiting rankings. The Hawkeyes have ties with three players in the top 25, including four-star, #14 overall prospect Addison Deal who committed to Iowa back in March. We take a look at where Iowa targets landed in the debut rankings.
SG Addison Deal (Committed to Iowa)
Chose Iowa over: LSU, Stanford, Iowa State, Indiana, Arizona, Oregon, USC and UCLA
Notes: A massive get for the Hawkeyes, Addison Deal is the highest-rated recruit to choose since Caitlin Clark, who was rated as the #3 player in the country by ESPN. Even bigger than the commitment itself was the decision from Deal to stick with Jan Jensen and Co. after Lisa Bluder announced her retirement in May.
As a sophomore for Mater Dei High School, Deal was named Orange County Player of the Year, averaging 15.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.7 steals for a Monarchs team that went 29-4. This season, Addison had her high school season cut short, suffering a Grade 3 sprained ankle in Mater Dei’s final game at a Nike Tournament in Arizona in late December.
“The coaching staff felt like a family. A lot of coaching staffs have been great to me, but I really felt apart of the family from day one with both the coaching staff and players,” Deal told HawkeyeReport.
PG Emilee Skinner
Offers (potentially incomplete): Iowa, Utah, USC, UCLA, Oregon State, Tennessee, Louisville, North Carolina, Duke, Oklahoma, Arizona, California, Texas A&M, BYU, Kentucky, Utah State and SMU.
Visits: Iowa (Official) (March ’24), Utah State (Oct ’23), Arizona (Sept ’23), North Carolina (Aug ’23) and Utah (June ’23)
Notes: HawkeyeReport has been told that Skinner is a high priority player in this class. She has taken visits to Utah, North Carolina, Arizona and Utah State, while she took an official visit to Iowa back in March. Skinner has kept things very close to the vest with her recruitment, but getting an official visit means that the Hawkeyes are very much in the running to land Skinner.
This past season, Skinner averaged 24.0 points, 7.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists for a Ridgeline team that won their second consecutive Class 4A state title. She shot 66.0 percent from inside the arc, 43.0 percent from three-point range and 86.0 percent from the free throw line. Emilee was named Utah Gatorade Player of the Year.

G Jordan Speiser
Top 11: Iowa, Arkansas, North Carolina, Kansas State, Notre Dame, TCU, Ohio State, Utah, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, and Minnesota.
Visits: Kansas State (Oct ’23), Iowa (Feb ’23), Arkansas (Nov ’22), Missouri (Oct ’21), Iowa (Sept ’21), Missouri (June ’21), Kansas (June ’21), Iowa (July ’21)
Notes: Information on the recruitment of Jordan Speiser has really quieted down as she has climbed the recruiting rankings. Iowa offered her way back in July of 2021 when she attended the Iowa Elite Camp and Jordan has been back in Iowa City several times since then. The coaching staff was also reportedly down in the St Louis area for one of her high school games back in January. There has been no indication of an official visit schedule, but it is getting close to that time.
This past season for Lutheran St Charles, Speiser averaged 22.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.8 steals per game for a Cougars team that advanced all the way to the Class 5 state championship game. She was named Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year.
