As the summer continues on, we will find out more and more about the Iowa Women’s Basketball schedule, including the release of Big Ten opponents in the coming weeks. For now, we stick to the non-conference schedule and D1 WBB Schedules reported that the Hawkeyes will host the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights in the season opener at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on November 6th. Public records obtained by D1 WBB Schedules say that Iowa will be giving FDU a $37,000 guarantee for making the trip from New Jersey. It will be the first all-time meeting between the Hawkeyes and Knights.

The Knights finished with a 24-8 record last season, including a 14-2 record in NEC play. They fell to Sacred Heart in the NEC Championship game and went on to play in the WNIT where they fell to eventual runner-up Columbia in the opening round. FDU loses all five starters from last season and hired Fordham head coach Stephanie Gaitley to take over the Knights program after Angelika Szumilo left for Iona.

The Iowa women’s team returns three starters, including National Player of the Year Caitlin Clark, who averaged 27.8 points, 7.1 rebounds and 8.6 assists for a Hawkeye squad that advanced to the National Championship game. They also return starting guards Kate Martin and Gabbie Marshall, as well as Big Ten Sixth Player of they Year Hannah Stuelke.
