Iowa Women's Basketball to host Loyola Chicago on December 21st

The Iowa Women’s Basketball season doesn’t get going for a couple of months yet, but the the non-conference schedule appears to be set. The Hawkeyes will host the Loyola Chicago Ramblers on December 21st at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The announcement fills out the final spot in Iowa’s 12 game non-conference slate. It will be the first all-time meeting between the Hawkeyes and Ramblers, while Iowa owns a 12-1 record against the Atlantic 10.

The Ramblers had a tough season last year, finishing with a 6-24 record, including a 1-15 mark in Atlantic 10 play. They were 1-8 against Quad 1 and 2 teams, with their biggest win coming against NET 135 St Louis. They fell to Duquesne in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament. Loyola Chicago has a 2-34 all-time record against ranked teams, including an 0-2 mark against top ten teams.

The Ramblers are set to return two starters, including senior forward Sitori Tanin, who averaged 9.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game last season. They did add for experienced players from the transfer portal, including Second Team All-NEC forward Aaliyah Moore out of Saint Francis. Moore averaged 10.4 points and 10.2 rebounds per game last year.

Loyola Chicago is coached by second-year head coach Allison Guth. Prior to being head coach of the Ramblers, Guth spent six years as head coach at Yale, where she won 99 games.

The Iowa women’s team returns three starters, including National Player of the Year Caitlin Clark, who averaged 27.8 points, 7.1 rebounds and 8.6 assists for a Hawkeye squad that advanced to the National Championship game. They also return starting guards Kate Martin and Gabbie Marshall, as well as Big Ten Sixth Player of they Year Hannah Stuelke.
