Isaiah Johnson-Arigu talks about his transfer.

When Isaiah Johnson-Arigu was originally looking to find a college program out of high school, he nearly picked the University of Iowa. But, eventually he found a home with the Miami Hurricanes and began his first semester of college this fall.

Shortly after the end of his first semester of college, his coach, Jim Larranaga, decided that he had enough of the current state of college basketball and retired in the middle of the season. That immediately made Johnson-Arigu a potential player who could enter the transfer portal, which he did.

It’s rare when we see a mid-year transfer, but that is exactly what happened as he announced in January that he was transferring to Iowa to play for Fran McCaffery. Johnson-Arigu discusses his relationship with Fran McCaffery and Sherman Dillard. He talks about picking Iowa and what he expects to bring to the table once he is eligible to play next fall. Plus, he also shares that he is appealing to try and gain his year of eligibility back.
