Josh Dix and Tony Perkins discuss the Hawkeyes big win over Nebraska
Maybe a couple of wins in a row is what the Iowa men’s basketball team needs to kickstart a second half run in the Big Ten. In front of a small crowd at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Friday night, the Hawkeyes came away with an impressive 94-76 win over a Nebraska team that had just taken down the #1 Purdue Boilermakers. Tony Perkins was pivotal in the win with a double-double 11 points and 15 assists to just two turnovers. 15 assists is a career-high for Perkins and was one short of tying the program record.
Sophomore guard Josh Dix got his first career start for the Hawkeyes back on December 7th in Ames against Iowa State. Things did not go well, as he had a couple of early turnovers and played just 11 minutes. Iowa also lost by 25 points. Tonight, in his third career start, things went an entirely different route. Dix finished with a career-high 16 points and five made three-pointers in the Hawkeyes 94-76 win over Nebraska.
Both players met with the media postgame to discuss the win over the Huskers. Perkins spoke about what he was seeing from the Nebraska defense and how he was able to rack up assists. Dix talked about the confidence boost from getting a win over a good opponent and weathering the 0-3 start in Big Ten play.
