Kris Murray named first team All Big Ten
For the second straight year a member of the Murray family has been named to first team All Big Ten. Last year it was Keegan Murray, who picked up the honors. This year it’s his twin brother, Kris Murray to picked up the award.
Murray is averaging a team-best 20.5 points and eight rebounds per outing. He is the only Division I player to average 20+ points, 8+ rebounds, and have made 60+ 3-pointers this season. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa, native has scored 30+ points four times this season, 25+ points nine times, and 20+ points 15 times.
This week he was also named third team All American by The Sporting News. Murray is also a semifinalist for the Wooden and Oscar Robertson national player of the year awards, and the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Award.
Joining Murray on the first team are Trayce Jackson-Davis from Indiana, Zach Edey from Purdue, and Jalen Pickett from Penn State. They were all first team honorees from both the coaches and media. TJ Shannon from Illinois earned first team honors from the coaches and Boo Buie and Hunter Dickinson earned it from the media.
This marks four straight years that Iowa has had a first team All Big Ten player. Luka Garza made the first team in 2020 and 2021. Keegan Murray earned the honor in 2022 and Kris Murray in 2023. Iowa has now had eight first team All Big Ten players in the McCaffery era.
