The recognition for Kris Murray keeps rolling in. This time it’s for an award that his twin brother, Keegan, won last year. Kris Murray has been named a finalist for the Karl Malone Award, which is given to the top power forward in college basketball.

Last year, Keegan Murray was the first Big Ten player to receive the award. Joining Kris Murray as a finalist for the award are: Arizona’s Ąžuolas Tubelis, Gonzaga’s Drew Timme, Indiana’s Trace Jackson-Davis and Providence’s Bryce Hopkins.

This week, Murray was named first team All Big Ten and third team All American by The Sporting News. He is also a semifinalist for the John R. Wooden Award and the Oscar Robertson Award.

This season he has averaged 20.5 points and 8 rebounds per game for the Hawkeyes. He is the only Division I player to average 20+ points, 8+ rebounds, and have made 60+ 3-pointers this season. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa, native has scored 30+ points four times this season, 25+ points nine times, and 20+ points 15 times.

The Selection Committee for the Karl Malone Award is composed of top men’s college basketball personnel including media members, head coaches, sports information directors and Hall of Famers.

Fans can support Murray by participating in Karl Malone Fan Voting starting Friday at hoophallawards.com. The Fan Vote will count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process.
