Luke Lachey would have rather had teammate Sam LaPorta out of the field for the full game against Minnesota and when they faced Nebraska. But, the senior tight end injured his knee against the Gophers and had minor surgery.

Thankfully, LaPorta was healthy for the Music City Bowl, but while he was out, Lachey was able to become a bigger part of the offense. Of the year, Lachey finished with 28 receptions for 398 yards and he caught a team high four touchdown passes. He also had the reception that essentially sealed the Hawkeyes win over Minnesota, which secured Floyd of Rosedale for another season.

Lachey is now one of the leaders at the tight end position and his expected role heading into 2023 is going to be expanding. He talks about how he is building on the end of the 2022 season and what the addition of Erick All means to the Iowa offense.
