In his fourth year with the program, tight end Luke Lachey has become TE1 for the Iowa offense. He caught 28 passes as the backup behind Sam LaPorta, but appears to be on track to break that total rather quickly this season. In the season opener against Utah State, Lachey caught seven passes for 73 yards to lead the team in both categories. Although this is his first year as one of the focal points in the Iowa offense, it is not his first go around with a Cy-Hawk. He caught one pass for 17 yards in the win over the Cyclones in 2021. Lachey discussed his experiences with the Cy-Hawk rivalry, his introduction to the series as an out-of-state guy and why he is always smiling.

As a transfer from Charleston Southern, wide receiver Seth Anderson is about to get his first ever experience with the Cy-Hawk rivalry on Saturday. In the opener, he caught two passes for 41 yards, including a 36-yard touchdown on the first play from scrimmage. He was targeted five times, which was just behind Nico Ragaini (6) for most among the receivers. Anderson discussed what he has been told about the environment at Jack Trice Stadium, what he has seen on film from the Cyclones defense and why he is such a confident player.
