The prestigious event began in 1967 and continued uninterrupted until 2017. After a four year break, the All-Star Classic made its return in 2022 in Austin, TX. This year, Penn State earned the honor of hosting the event.

A fifth-year senior transfer from Augsburg University, Deede is a four-time All-American and currently ranked #1 in the NWCA rankings. McBryde is the #1 ranked wrestler at 160 lbs in the NAIA rankings. Marlynne Deede won the match via decision by a final score of 8-3.

In 2022, Iowa men’s wrestling sent Jacob Warner (197 lbs) and Tony Cassioppi (285 lbs) to represent the Hawkeyes. Iowa was one of six schools to be represented in the four women’s matches.
