When the Iowa men’s basketball team takes the floor for the 2024-25 season, there will be several new faces wearing the black and gold. Among them are Manhattan transfer Seydou Traore, freshman Chris Tadjo and freshman Cooper Koch. The media was able to meet with all three of them prior to practice on Monday afternoon to discuss how things have gone this summer and how they are adjusting to life at Iowa.

Seydou Traore comes to Iowa City after spending his freshman year at Manhattan, where he earned MAAC All-Freshman Team honors. He averaged 11.8 points and 8.2 rebounds for the Jaspers last season. Traore spoke a bit about his reasoning for transferring to Iowa, while thanking the Manhattan staff for giving him a DI opportunity.

As for Chris Tadjo and Cooper Koch, they are spending their first summer at Iowa as true freshman. Tadjo was rated as a four-star, #53 player in the country by On3 and played for NBA Academy Latin America. He spoke a bit about his journey to Iowa and what stood out about Iowa when he was being recruited. Cooper Koch was rated as a four-star, #113 player in the country by On3 and is the son of former Hawkeye men’s basketball player J.R. Koch.
