Paolo Ciatto becomes fifth 2025 commit for Iowa men's wrestling
On Thursday evening the Iowa men’s wrestling program added a fifth member to its 2025 recruiting class.
Paolo Ciatto is now a Hawkeye – announcing his college destination on Instagram.
The New York native was the lone high school senior amongst a group of visitors on Iowa’s star-studded recruiting weekend in late-October. He now becomes the second of those visitors to since commit to the Black & Gold, joining 2026 Pennsylvania prospect Owen McMullen.
Ciatto currently attends Iona Prep in New Rochelle, NY – and is set to compete at 170 pounds this season. A 2023 state place winner (8th) at 138 pounds, he missed out on the postseason a year ago as a junior due to injury.
Ciatto joins a trio of fellow upper weight commitments in this year’s class.
Ohio twins Jarrel (190) and Tyrel Miller (175) – ranked #67 and #71 nationally according to FloWrestling – are both considered top-six prospects at their respective weights.
Meanwhile, Colorado state champ Leister Bowling IV just took first place at 174 pounds in the ‘Silver Division’ of last weekend’s Luther (college) Open in Decorah.

Bowling is also the only commit (thus far) to have been confirmed by Iowa as the fall signing period officially opened on Wednesday.
One future teammate whom neither Ciatto nor the aforementioned trio of commits will likely have to contend with in the Iowa room is Leo DeLuca. The Blair Academy (New Jersey) product is considered the top-ranked wrestler in the country at 120 pounds, and #8 overall in the Class of 2025.
We’ll see if Iowa adds to this five-man group in the coming days/months. But for now, Ciatto becomes the latest to pledge his future to Iowa men’s wrestling head coach Tom Brands and the Hawkeyes.
