Payton Sandfort happy with the opening night win
The energy level in the exhibition against Quincy was not up to the standard that Iowa wanted and it led to an early 16-6 deficit. Payton Sandfort said that it was a point of emphasis in practice leading up to the game and he was proud of the way the got out to an early double digit lead. Sandfort himself had 13 points in the first five minutes of the game, including three three-pointers. He led the team with 21 points and nine rebounds.
