Perkins on his career best performance
On Saturday afternoon, Tony Perkins met the moment. The junior guard knew the Hawkeyes needed someone to step forward in the second half with several players saddled with foul trouble. Perkins responded with a career best 32 points, including 25 in the second half. He also tied a school record by making 15 straight free throws in a game.
It wasn’t a surprise to Perkins. He’s done this before at the high school level and responds well in rivalry games. He talks about his performance in the win, how he kept scoring thanks to Illinois playing drop coverage, and the big shots he kept hitting time after time.
