Coming off of a series win on the road in Piscataway last weekend, the Iowa Baseball team got at one more tune up game before Big Ten really kicks into high gear and every midweek counts. The Hawkeyes were close early with DIII Augustana College, but used a couple of big innings late to pull away for a 16-1 victory. The moment of the game came in the sixth inning. Leading 6-1, Iowa hitters collected five consecutive two-out hits to blow the game open with five more runs to make it 11-1. They tacked on five more in the eighth to add to the advantage. With the win, the Hawkeyes move to 8-7 on the season and have now won five of their last six games. Up next, Iowa will welcome the Michigan State Spartans to Iowa City for a three-game series starting on Friday evening.
