The last two times Iowa Baseball Media Day has been held outside at Duane Banks Field, the Hawkeyes have gone on to make an appearance in an NCAA Tournament Regional. Last season, media day was outside and Iowa went on to go 44-16, advancing to the Terre Haute Regional final. This season, Rick Heller and Co. have bigger dreams in mind than a regional final appearance. They have one of the best starting rotations in the country and behind them is a bullpen with plenty of depth. At the plate, they return many of the same faces from last year’s team and in the field, they will be one of the best defensive teams in the nation. There’s a lot of reasons to be excited for the upcoming season and media day was the official kick off, as opening day is just a couple of days away.
HawkeyeReport.com photographer Dennis Scheidt was at Duane Banks Field on Tuesday afternoon to capture some greats shots from around media day and the practice that followed. The Hawkeyes season-opener is set for Friday, down in Charleston, SC at the Swig & Swine Classic against Seton Hall.
