The newly #1 ranked Iowa Field Hockey team took care of business on Friday afternoon in their home opener at Grant Field. The Hawkeyes scored five goals in a span of 12 minutes in the first half and defeated Central Michigan to move to 5-0 on the season. It is just the third time in the last five seasons that Iowa has scored eight or more goals in a game.

Freshman forward Dionne van Aalsum scored four goals, including a hat-trick in the first half to get her season total to 12 goals. Forward Miranda Jackson scored a pair of goals to give her three on the season, while forward Sofie Stribos and forward Tess Reed each had a goal. All-American midfielder Esme Gibson had three assists on the day. The Hawkeyes out shot the Chippewas 27-0, including 16 shots on goal and nine penalty corners.
