The #1 ranked Iowa Field Hockey team entered Sunday with an 8-0 win over Central Michigan already under their belt for the weekend. For UMass Lowell, it was their first ever matchup against a team that was ranked number one. Both teams battled heavy rain in the first half, but it was three first quarter goals from the Hawkeyes that put them in control early. Lisa Cellucci’s squad picked up the 5-1 victory to stay unbeaten at 6-0.

Freshman forward Dionne van Aalsum scored four goals, including two in the first quarter. She now has an NCAA leading 16 goals through six games. Freshman midfielder Lieve Van Kessel scored her second goal of the season in the first quarter. Four different Hawkeyes picked up an assist. Iowa outshot UMass Lowell 19-8, including 13 shots on goal and ten penalty corners.
