PHOTO GALLERY: Iowa Women's Basketball Media Day
It was Iowa Women’s Basketball Media Day at Carver-Hawkeye Arena this morning, which meant our first chance to meet with the players and the coaching staff ahead of the 2023-24 season. Of course, there was a lot of buzz surrounding the press conferences for head coach Lisa Bluder and senior point guard Caitlin Clark. After they spoke with the media in the Feller Club Room, media members were able to do individual player interviews down on the court. To wrap up the day, the media was allowed to stay and watch the opening 20 minutes of the Hawkeyes practice.
Lisa Bluder’s team is coming off of a 31-7, where they won the Big Ten Tournament for the second straight season and made a run to the Final Four for the first time since 1993. Iowa returns three starters, including National Player of the Year Caitlin Clark, who averaged 27.8 points, 7.1 rebounds and 8.6 assists for a Hawkeye squad that advanced to the National Championship game. They also return starting guards Kate Martin and Gabbie Marshall, as well as Big Ten Sixth Player of they Year Hannah Stuelke.
