The Hawkeyes dominated the Trailblazer Duals.

The Iowa women’s wrestling team made their home debut on Sunday afternoon for the Trailblazer Duals. The eighth-ranked Hawkeyes hosted and defeated #5 Sacred Heart, #11 Lindenwood and #13 Presbyterian. A crowd of 8,207 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena broke the record for attendance at a college women’s wrestling event.

Iowa started the day with a 44-1 win over #13 Presbyterian with pins by Emilie Gonzalez (101 lbs), Emily Frost (130 lbs), Alivia White (191 lbs). The Hawkeyes outscored the Blue Hose 63-2 in matches that did not end via pin.

The Hawkeyes followed that up with a 43-0 win over #11 Lindenwood, including pins from Felicity Taylor (123 lbs), Emily Frost (130 lbs), Marlynne Deede (155 lbs), and Kylie Welker (191 lbs). Iowa outscored the Lions 68-0 in the other matches.

They finished off the day with a 40-4 victory over fifth-ranked Sacred Heart, including pins from Sterling Dias (101 lbs), Brianna Gonzalez (116 lbs) and Marlynne Deede (155 lbs). The Hawkeyes outscored the Pioneers 53-8 in the rest of the matches. Alivia White suffered Iowa’s only loss of the day to Madeline Hodges via 7-0 decision in the final match.

Up Next, Iowa travels to Marshall, MO for the Missouri Valley College Open next weekend. The #8 Hawkeyes, as well as #4 Colorado Mesa, #5 Sacred Heart and #6 Gannon University headline the teams in attendance.
