Play-by-play recap: Iowa 16 Augustana College 1

Returning home to Duane Banks Field for the first of an eight-game homestand, the Iowa Baseball team faced DIII Augustana College on Tuesday afternoon. A close game early, the Hawkeye bats exploded for an eight-run seventh inning, rolling to a 16-1 victory. Rick Heller’s squad has now won five of their last six games, moving to 8-7 overall.

The Vikings came to play, banging out ten hits over the first six innings, but were only able to plate a single run. Hawkeye pitcher ran into trouble through the first half of the game but made pitches in big spots to get out of jams. Leading just 3-1 going into the bottom of the seventh, Iowa totaled 13 runs on 12 hits over the next two innings to put the game away. Daniel Rogers led the way with three hits on the day.
