Play-by-play recap: Iowa 4 Illinois-Chicago 1
A grinding, stressful day at Duane Banks Field, the Hawkeye pitching staff had to work are free bases in nearly every inning. Luckily, they were able to escape jams, and Iowa came away with a 4-1 victory over Illinois-Chicago on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Hawkeyes move to 11-8 on the season.
The visiting UIC Flames got on the board in the top of the first, with three free bases and an errant throw giving them a 1-0 lead. Despite putting runners on base in almost every inning, UIC was unable to score again, leaving 13 runners on base. Offensively for Iowa, there weren’t many highlights, but they did enough to get the win. Reese Moore hit his fourth home run of the season, while Ben Swails and Miles Risley each had RBI doubles.
