Play-by-play recap: Iowa 7 Michigan State 3

The Iowa Baseball team did not get much time to bounce back from their loss in the series opener to Michigan State. With a doubleheader set for Friday, Rick Heller’s squad got 45 minutes to regroup. They answered in the second game of the day, taking down the Spartans 7-3, setting up a series deciding game three for Saturday afternoon.

Aaron Savary was impressive on the mound, allowing two runs on six hits over 7.1 innings. The longest outing of his Hawkeye career set the tone for the win. On the offensive side, Iowa took advantage of some free bases in the fifth, tallying six runs on two hits, including a Jaixen Frost three-run home run. The Spartans drew closer with three runs in the eighth, but Iowa tacked one on in the bottom of the inning for insurance.
