Play-by-play recap: Iowa 16 Minnesota 7

The Iowa Baseball team, for at least 24 hours, will hold sole possession of first place in the Big Ten, after defeating Minnesota 16-7 in the series opener on Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Hawkeyes move to 15-9 overall and 8-2 in Big Ten play.
Rick Heller’s squad has been on fire at the plate on Thursday was no different. The Hawkeyes put up four runs in the 2nd, four in the 6th and four in the 7th inning, with those crooked numbers leading to a dominant win. On the mound, Aaron Savary allowed four runs over 3.2 innings, but Daniel Wright was huge in relief with a doubleheader on the horizon, allowing one run over 3.1 innings.
