Play-by-play recap: Western Illinois 7 Iowa 3
As successful as Iowa has been in Big Ten play, they are not spared from midweek hiccups. It had a bad feeling from the start and never got better, as the Hawkeyes fell to Western Illinois by a final score of 7-3. It’s their first loss to the Leathernecks since 2017.
With the loss, the Hawkeyes fall to 27-12 on the season. Despite the loss, their 17-4 mark in Big Ten play has them sitting with a 2.5-game lead over UCLA for the top spot.
