The Iowa defense is officially putting the band back together. Almost the entire band as safety Quinn Schulte has decided to follow several of his teammates who participated in Senior Day ceremonies and return for one more year in black and gold.

The 6-foot-1 and 209 pound former walk-on safety announced today via Instagram that he would be returning and using his Covid year to play one more season with Iowa, delaying the start of dental school for one more year.

This past season, Schulte started every game at free safety and his teammates credit him with making sure the Iowa players on defense are in their proper location prior to the snap of the football. He had 65 tackles this season, including 2.5 for loss. He intercepted a pass against Rutgers and had five credited passes broken up.

According to Pro Football Focus, Schulte played 977 snaps this past season. They gave him an overall grade of 84.3 this season. He was credit with an 83.3 grade in coverage situations, an 84.2 grade against the run, and a sterling 86.3 grade in tackling.

Schulte is likely the last starter on defense who will have an announcement to make. Joe Evans has exhausted his eligibility and Logan Lee has made it very clear that he was moving on after the bowl game. Cooper DeJean has announced that he is headed to the NFL Draft and Jermari Harris, Sebastian Castro, Jay Higgins, and Nick Jackson have announced that after taking part in Senior Day ceremonies, they will be returning for one more season with the Hawkeyes.
