Rashad Godfrey Jr. commits to Iowa
Class of 2024 defensive back Rashad Godfrey Jr. is headed to the University of Iowa. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Florida native announced his verbal commitment to the Hawkeyes today after making an official visit to campus June 23-25.
“It felt like home,” Godfrey told HawkeyeReport.com. “The coaches were great and the players treated me as if I was already on the team.”
A three-star prospect in the On3 rankings, Godfrey chose Iowa over scholarship offers from Boston College, Duke, South Florida, Tulane, Coastal Carolina, Charlotte, Connecticut, Liberty, East Carolina, Florida Atlantic, and Western Michigan, among others.
With the ability to play cornerback or safety, Godfrey should fit in well with Iowa’s scheme under defensive coordinator Phil Parker, who he looks forward to working with at the next level.

“Why not play for the best defensive coordinator in college football?” said Godfrey. “I feel like I can become a top DB there and develop really fast.”
Overall, Godfrey is commitment No. 18 for the Hawkeyes in the Class of 2024. “Now, I’m just ready to get there and help the team win,” Godfrey said.
