The Iowa Wrestling coaching staff brought in three high-level transfers over the offseason, including 197-pounder Stephen Buchanan. The former Wyoming/Oklahoma wrestler is a three-time All-American, earning third place finishes at the NCAA Tournament in 2022 and 2024. He posted a 30-3 record last season with the Sooners, including an 11-3 record against ranked opponents. Buchanan enters the season as the consensus number one wrestler in the country at 197 pounds.

On Thursday afternoon, Buchanan met with the media to discuss his transfer to Iowa, what’s different about the coaching staff compared to the outside narrative and what he has added to his repertoire as a wrestler since he has arrived on campus.
