TE Michael Burt commits to the Iowa Hawkeyes
Class of 2024 tight end Michael Burt is headed to the University of Iowa. The 6-foot-6, 226-pound Omaha native made the call and officially announced his verbal commitment to the Hawkeyes today.
“It’s just the perfect fit for me,” Burt told HawkeyeReport.com. “I love the program, love the town, the distance, and everything.”
A three-star prospect with an On3 Industry Ranking of 85.06, Burt chose Iowa over scholarship offers from Nebraska, Minnesota, Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Miami-OH, Northern Illinois, South Dakota, South Dakota State, Northern Iowa, and Southeast Missouri State.
“It really came down to what place fit me best.” said Burt. “Hands down, it was Iowa.”
“Zero negativity to anywhere else, but I just felt at home at Iowa.”
A three-sport athlete with high upside, Burt excels as both a receiver and blocker at Creighton Prep High School. At Iowa’s camp this month, he was able to showcase those abilities, which quickly impressed tight ends coach Abdul Hodge, who offered on the spot. Today, Burt accepted that opportunity and is excited to get started in Iowa City.
