Texas cornerback Amare Bickham has made his college decision. The 6-foot-1, 165-pound Bickham announced today that he will be following in his father’s footsteps and playing at the University of Iowa where he will be a preferred walk-on for the Hawkeyes.

Bickham’s father, Lloyd Bickham, played defensive line at Iowa from 1992-96 under head coach Hayden Fry.

“It’s exciting,” Bickham told HawkeyeReport.com. “I’ve been a Hawkeye fan for as long as I can remember so it’s incredible to have an opportunity to attend my childhood favorite school as well as the same school as my father. But more importantly, I believe Iowa has all the resources that I need to be the best player and person I can be.”

In his first year of playing defensive back at Fulshear High School, Bickham had 13 pass breakups and two interceptions in 2022, earning first-team all-district honors. Now, he will be taking his talents to Iowa where he continue to develop his talents under the tutelage of defensive coordinator Phil Parker.

“I’m just excited to get to Iowa City and thank everyone for the opportunity,” said Bickham.
