Kasen Thomas makes college decision

Sioux City Heelan linebacker Kasen Thomas has made his college decision. The 6-foot-2, 217-pound Thomas announced today that he has verbally committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes following an official visit to Iowa City this past weekend, but in reality it is something that he decided on quite some time ago.
“I’ve been planning on it since I first got my offer there a year ago,” Thomas told HawkeyeReport.com. “What ultimately made choose Iowa was the people and the development of their players.”
A four-star prospect ranked among the top 300 players in the country by On3, Thomas chose Iowa over scholarship offers from Iowa State, Nebraska, Arizona, Kansas State, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.

“It feels great,” said Thomas. “It feels like the weight of the world came off of my shoulders.”
As a junior, Thomas was a star on both sides of the ball for Bishop Heelan, finishing the season with 1,841 yards rushing and 20 touchdowns on offense along with 44.5 tackles and 15.5 TFL on defense.
Overall, Thomas is commitment No. 11 for the Hawkeyes in the Class of 2026 as he joins offensive linemen Carson Nielsen, Hudson Parliament, Gene Riordan, Owen Linder, and Colin Whitters, wide receivers Brody Schaffer and Diondre Smith, defensive backs Marcello Vitti and Ronnie Hill, and defensive lineman Sawyer Jezierski on Iowa’s list.
