Kirk Ferentz made an interesting comment after Iowa’s win over Illinois on Saturday. He mentioned that he thought the biggest part of the development of Tyler Elsbury in the last three weeks as he filled in for Logan Jones for periods of time was confidence. In his fourth year with the Hawkeyes, Elsbury could potentially play all three positions on the offensive line, but he lacked confidence.

In talking to Elsbury on Tuesday, he admitted that confidence had alluded him in his Iowa career, but he was turning a corner after playing extended snaps at center in place of Jones in the last three games. Elsbury discusses his growth in the last three games and he also talks about his discussions with former Hawkeye player Sean Considine, who is from his hometown and helped coach him at the high school level.
