Jacob Wallace ready for signing day
After verbally committing to Iowa this past weekend, cornerback Jacob Wallace will make it official and sign with the Hawkeyes on Wednesday. For the 5-foot-11, 175-pound senior from DeMatha Catholic, it will be the end of one chapter and the beginning of another as he gets ready to play college football in the Big Ten.
“Signing day means a lot to me,” Wallace told HawkeyeReport.com. “I’ve been working hard these past four years and it’s finally paid off.”
“But this is only the beginning to a new chapter,” said Wallace. “I am excited for it and ready to work at the next level.”
Wallace, who had 41 tackles, seven interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and three defensive touchdowns this past season, looks forward to sharing the day with his family, friends, and teammates at DeMatha.
“We are having the signing day at my school like we always do, and my family, coaches, and teammates are coming to support me,” Wallace said. “It should be an exciting day.”

Wallace will actually be the second in his family to play college football in the Big Ten as older brother Josh Wallace was a starter at cornerback for Michigan on its national championship team in 2023. Josh began his career at Massachusetts after graduating from DeMatha in 2019, then joined the Wolverines as a grad transfer, and is now with the Los Angeles Rams. Now, younger brother, Jacob, will get his chance as well.
“Iowa really likes his overall athleticism,” said DeMatha head coach Bill McGregor. “Obviously, he comes from a very athletic family. He’s very active, very athletic, and just loves to compete. I think he can be a top of the line cornerback.”
A three-star prospect, Wallace earned scholarship offers from Iowa, West Virginia, USF, Marshall, Howard, Akron, Central Michigan, Ohio, Temple, Charlotte, and New Hampshire during the recruiting process.
