Coming off of a disappointing 2024 campaign that saw the Iowa Baseball team come up short of the NCAA Tournament, there is a renewed sense of optimism within the program ahead of Friday’s season opener against South Florida. A mix of returning players and new faces has both the coaches and players excited for what lies ahead this season. After last year brought on plenty of lofty expectations and a preseason top 25 ranking, this year’s team will enter the season in a position that Iowa Baseball has become very familiar with over the years and that’s being an under-the-radar ballclub that not many people are talking about.

I caught up with Cade Obermueller, Gable Mitchell and Andy Nelson to get their thoughts on this year’s team and why they think this group could flourish in their under-the-radar role.
