With their backs up against the wall, missing their leading scorer, not many would have faulted the Hawkeyes if they laid down and let 7th-ranked Purdue take care of business. However, despite not getting the win, Iowa showed that they aren’t giving up on the season and battled the Boilermakers for 40 minutes. Everyone on the roster is expecting that same type of effort the rest of the way, starting with Wisconsin on Saturday.

Frontcourt players Even Bruans and Riley Mulvey met with the media on Thursday to discuss their new roles in the lineup, with Owen Freeman out for the remainder of the season. Brauns spoke about getting a chance to finish his college career with a big role in the rotation, the team’s motivation level with all the adversity that has piled up and how they are approaching the Wisconsin game. Mulvey spoke about how he found out he was going to be in the starting lineup, how he has adjusted to his new role on the fly and why he’s also so positive.
