WATCH: Jan Jensen, Hawkeyes recap the win over Northwestern
The Hawkeyes got a full, 40-minute test from Northwestern on Tuesday night, but were able to come away victorious. The hot-shooting Wildcats knocked down a season-high nine threes, but Iowa made enough plays in the second half to earn an 85-80 win. After losing five straight games, the Hawkeyes have won back-to-back to move to 14-7 overall and 4-6 in Big Ten play.
Head coach Jan Jensen spoke with the media after the game, discussing her team’s ability to find a way to win, their growth in late game situations and how moving Hannah Stuelke to center has been beneficial for her, as well as Syd Affolter. She also spoke about Ava Heiden not earning any minutes and how the battle for minutes at the post has gone as of late.
We also got to talk with Hannah Stuelke and Aaliyah Guyton after the game. Stuelke spoke about watching the west coast games from home due to her concussion, and her path back to the court where she put up a season-high 26 points. Guyton spoke about how she has stepped up as a leader this season and what has allowed her to do that.
