It was a successful trip to Mexico for the Iowa women’s basketball team, as they picked up a pair of wins at the Cancun Challenge, returning home touting an 8-0 record for the first time since the 2004-05 season. The trip wasn’t without some stress, as Lucy Olsen missed both games with a serious cut on her knee that she suffered from a freak accident. Now, back in the states, the Hawkeyes schedule ramps up, starting with a matchup against Tennessee at the Women’s Champions Classic in Brooklyn on Saturday.

Jan Jensen met with the media on Tuesday morning to discuss the injury to her starting point guard and if she’ll be ready for Saturday against Tennessee. She also spoke about the Lady Vols and what challenges they pose on both ends of the floor.

We also got to hear from Lucy Olsen and Aaliyah Guyton. Olsen detailed how her knee injury occurred and gave her thoughts on what she saw from the team while on the bench. Guyton spoke about how she felt she played in her first ever major minutes at the collegiate level, stepping up with Lucy out and how their defense has given them another way to win games.
