The Iowa women’s basketball team had the opportunity to earn a marquee win on Sunday afternoon, playing host to 8th-ranked Maryland. A brutal start on both ends of the floor combined with hot shooting from the Terrapins put Iowa in a 25-point hole late in the first half. The Hawkeyes battled hard and cut the deficit to as little as five in the second half, but came up short, falling 74-66. Iowa falls to 12-3 on the season and 2-2 in Big Ten play.

Head coach Jan Jensen started out her press conference speaking about the impact of Lisa Bluder at Iowa. She broke down the game discussing what went wrong in the first half, how her team responded in the second half, as well as the turnover troubles that have plagued the team.

We also got to talk with Lucy Olsen and Syd Affolter after the game. They spoke about the tough start to the game in the first half, what changed in the second half to start the comeback and how they need to respond going forward.
