One of the best days on the college sports calendar is Selection Sunday. An anxious day for all teams, whether you’re 100% in the field, an auto bid, an at-large or on the bubble. It’s a stressful time waiting for your team to pop up and learn, not only your first-round matchup, but how your bracket sets up.

The Iowa Women’s Basketball team (22-10) saw their name pop up as a 6 seed in the Norman Regional, hosted by 3 seed Oklahoma. Their opening round matchup will come against the MVC champion Murray State Racers. There are plenty of connections throughout the regional, including players from Iowa for Oklahoma and Murray State, while Sooners head coach Jennie Baranczyk is a former Hawkeye.

After the Selection Show concluded, head coach Jan Jensen met with the media to discuss her relationship with Baranczyk, how they have attacked the time off since the Big Ten Tournament, how she approaches this NCAAT in her first year as head coach and more.

We also got to speak with Lucy Olsen and Syd Affolter. They discussed the keys to making sure they are prepared and ready for round one after some time off and what has led to their steady climb over the second half of the season.
