It’s no secret that the pitching staff was a bit of a letdown last season for the Hawkeyes. The starting pitching was decent, but not great and never quite lived up to the lofty expectations that were placed on them. Meanwhile, the staff as a whole struggled with free bases, ranking 267th in walks per nine innings. After the season, Rick Heller opted to make the move towards a new pitching coach and hired Houston’s Sean Kenny.
